Where can I find information on adding YouTube videos to my site...what am I allowed to do, to use etc.

Just found the medium and quite excited to use if I can.

For example: Cooks Cottage, had a look and there is a great one done by a very clever gentleman who also has others I could use.

I tried to read and understand the legal stuff that is written but am not sure if I am allowed to use these videos or not...sorry showing my ignorance here

Can someone please put me straight if they understand the process and legal use of same I would really appreciate the input.

just massage the person who owns the video

If they didn't create the video at least the onus is on them

to put a video on your site copy and paste the source of the video e.g. it's under every video , put this in a text box et voila!

You don't need to ask for permission. I know it because I have my own videos there.

On the Right hand side of each video on youtube, just below the description, there are two boxes with some code. One says URL and the other one says Code to embed. You can copy and paste them anywhere you like, if they are there it means the video owner allows it, otherwise they could prevent people from embedding them.

EXAMPLE:
LINK http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vchy1ExvDws

CODE TO EMBED
<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/Vchy1ExvDws&hl=it&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/Vchy1ExvDws&hl=it&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

When you embed videos they are on your page, visitors don't leave your website.

For video owners is a way to get more views, so most people allow embedding.

I hope it's useful
