Hello SBIers!
Lester here.

RE: Google Analytics Traffic
Showing Visits To Pages
NOT From My SBI Site
But From Other SBI Site Pages

Please see attached image below.

I only have 3 pages:

    /
    /saving-money-shopping-online-blog.html
    /price-comparison-websites.html
I know the /sitebuilder/... are my previews.
But, the rest are not my site's pages.

Can anyone explain this?

Appreciate any feedback.

Hi Will,

When I follow the links, I'm directed to my site's 404 error page.

I tried Googling some of the .html file names (over a 100) and found that these file names belong to an SBI site, [Domain Private].

How can that SBI site's pages appear in my Google Analytics?

Is it Google's spam? Or, SBI's? Or [Domain Private]'s?

:?:?:

Same thing happened to me a few months back. When I clicked the link it went to my 404 page, but when I removed my domain name and just typed the page name part in Google and Bing search page, it directed me to a site that was named something like "black hat forum . net" or something like that. And the post it directed to, was an affiliate spam with lots of likes.

In the replies under the forum post, was TONS of webmasters, saying the they had gotten to that forum's post via it attaching links to their domain name and it showing up in Analytics, same as what you are seeing now.

It's definitely spammers trying to direct traffic to affiliate links, but how they get it to redirect through our sites, I don't know. Never saw it happen to my site again and also never figured out how to prevent it from happening again.

Thanks Wendy for your feedback.

With a lot of 404 pages created not by me but by someone or buggy artificial intelligence, my site could get (or is already) penalized by Google in its early stage.

I hope this issue will go away like what happened to your site.
