I currently have a spirituality site with almost 100 pages on it. I will be releasing this site when it is up for renewal next year.

I am currently developing a new spirituality site which is focused on women entrepreneurs/solopreneurs/aspiring entrepreneurs. Some of the pages on my old site could be valuable on my new site.

Question - If I use some of the KW pages from my old site on my new site AFTER I release the old site, will I be penalized by Google for using duplicate content? The content from the old site will be gone because that site will no longer exist. Does Google track old content pages or would I be able to use them on my new site without a problem?

I appreciate your help.

Don't do this without checking with something like copyscape first in case it was plagiarized. If it was, and you close down the site, it *could* appear that you are the plagiarist. A better idea would be to use the 301 tool if it's an SBI! site that you're planning on closing.

It is in Site Central however if both sites are SBI! sites, have you considered using Move It! instead and just deleting what you don't want to keep? They both use 301 as the basis of the redirect so it tells the spiders you moved the content to a new location. If the site you are letting go is not SBI!, then you will need to check your Cpanel for how to set up 301 redirects.

All my best,

They are both SBI sites. Do I need to keep the old site in addition to the new one if I use Move It!? Is there some place I can go to read more about this?

Yes, Tips and Techniques HQ (Bottom of Site Central has a link) and no, the old domain ceases to exist after using Move It! so you still only have 1 SBI! subscription. It is all done on the same subscription.

You could move the old domain to Name Park It!. It will cost around $12 to park the domain, but at least you keep it and can renew annually. Contact Support for help on this. http://support.sitesell.com/contact-support.html
