Thanks Debs, I'll look into that - also look into making my site appear a whole lot nicer on mobile. I did it to be 'plain' little realising how truly awful it looks on mobile. Off to Site Designer :-)

Bye for now

If they're AdSense ads, you can't do that. You'll need to review the AdSense for mobile article in TNT HQ. Do a find for AdSense and you'll come to the article link.

Other ad systems may allow you to simply not show ads in mobile. If so, Debs's advice is good.

Thanks again 👍
I’ve made my coloured header narrower and the font smaller. It was taking up too much space on the mobile. With a smaller header, it doesn’t look so awful and hopefully the ads can stay as they’re only in a narrow bar at the bottom.

I’ve lost my photo, but shall worry about that at a later date - the ‘fix’ will do for now whilst I get on with other stuff

Much appreciated

Just an update on Brokenlinkcheck.com which a lot of people (including me) use to check -- well -- broken links...

I wrote to them a while ago asking about them not covering https sites. Here's their reply:

Hi Cath,

Don’t worry about our front end saying ‘http’. Our system is smart enough to figure out whether your pages are http or https.

Please try checking your website again and let us know if it still works well for you?

Sincerely yours,
BrokenLinkCheck Team

So I tried it, and it worked.

Will -- as ever -- is right!

Cath.

PS If you haven't used it, give it a whirl -- it's a great tool and very easy to understand.

I am exhausted. I have just converted my new site to https.

I would like to thank the team who put together the guide for conversion, including engaging with Google and Bing.

Without wishing to indicate any criticism to anyone, but you have created the perfect idiot's guide to this process.

Think of a tech idiot, think of me.

Emotionally that was difficult. Scary because of the investment gone in on the http site. However, technically it was straightforward, because I just followed one guide step after another. All the way through.

Phew! Thank you all so very much. I was putting this off for such a long time. Don't know why. Don't know why at all.

I was a carer for a long time and building my new website was the only thing that could distract me. Now, duty discharged, I am sorting out issues created by exhaustion during that period and enjoying an enormous degree of satisfaction by just being creative. A lot of work needs to be done to get it up to any kind of speed, so back to the Action Guides.

Thank you, team.

Wil :D:wink:

My conversion went smoothly, but I'm having trouble with notifying Bing. I can't delete my old site, nor add my new one. I'm following the Post Conversion Tasks article. I can log in OK and land on my Dashboard. But when I go to the My Sites page and click the checkbox next to my site's name nothing happens. I can see the "Delete" box above that but it's grayed out.

If I go to the Add a Site page and try to add my new site nothing happens when I click "add".

Anybody else having problems with BWT?

Thanks! Brian

Brian, Usually when you can't add/submit, some question elsewhere on the page is left unanswered and the site won't allow the button click until you answer that question so check that. Also, you can try clearing your cache or use another browser to see if that helps.

All my best,

Debs

I've cleared my cache and tried Chrome and IE but nothing works. It just shows clicks and pages as "Loading..." and won't let me do anything with my site. Everything seems to load and work normally, except for "My Sites" page and "Add a Site" page.

Hi Brian.

Without seeing the steps you're taking and the results, it's almost impossible to diagnose what might be happening and come up with a solution.

I have two options for you...

1. Take screenshots of everything as it happens, then add the images to a reply here. Click on the Upload attachment tab below your reply to add them. Then carefully document the steps that you take, right from logging in to your account.

2. Hire a SiteSell Professional to help you get things working. Here's the form to order some time...

Hi,
I purchased SBI late last summer. I thought that the site at that time was automatically https. I was noticing that the affiliate link and my website that I'm working on is http. Did I misunderstand?

There is an entire protocol you need to follow to ensure safe conversion to https. Read the first post in this thread and follow those instructions. Come back here if you need help or get stuck. Your first task is to run the pre-conversion check which is in Site Central under the All Pages section.

The option to go https wasn't offered until October of this year.

If you have a store connected to your site, that should be https already, but that isn't hosted with SiteSell/SBI!.

All my best,

Debs

Hi Debs,

Here are the steps I go through:

1. I log into my BWT account and land on my Dashboard page.

2. The Post Conversion Tasks article says we will land on our Dashboard page but doesn’t say anything about switching pages. I don’t see anything on my Dashboard page about deleting my account so I switch to My Sites page.

3. Post Conversion Tasks article says “click on the checkbox next to the domain name”. I click on it and a checkmark appears but nothing else happens. Delete button stays grayed out.

The bar to Add a Site is there, but if I paste my URL into the box and click the button, nothing happens.

4. If I switch to Add a Site page I can paste my URL into the top box and my sitemap URL to the lower box, but when I click “Add” nothing happens.

No matter how long I wait the "Loading...." on the My Sites page never resolves.

Any ideas?

Thanks, Brian
