C T P M is the core of Solo Build It!, and the Action Guide is the tool that guides you from Content all the way to Monetization.
In other words, the AG is essential to your business success.
So we've made it easier for you to use!
All the text now comes in a bigger size, which will make it easier for older eyes to read it (and young eyes too). The Step headlines are much bigger, so skimming to your next step will be easier now. Although you may not need to do much skimming with the next improvement...
Hide/Show Each Step
You can now hide the content of each Step (but not the headline) once you've completed it. And we've made it so that you can't miss the Hide button. It's big and green, and sits right next to each Step's headline.
Want to review a Step after you've hidden it? Simply click on the same button, which now says Show.
Goals and Outcomes
We added a little color to the Goals section at the top, and the Outcomes section at the bottom. We added some space between the goals and between the outcomes, and added a checkbox icon to each one. So they're not as easy to skip over!
We changed the background color of the callouts from yellow to a light bluish-purple so they're more noticeable. We did, though, leave the "Take a Moment to Reflect" boxes the eggplant-y color that they had before.
Both types of callout are also wider.
The new design is responsive, so you'll have an easier time reading it on your phone.
Some Reorganization as Well
We didn't just change the look and feel of the AG. We also did some rethinking about DAYs 7 and 8, and made some changes there.
In the previous version of the AG, the final Step in DAY 7 was to add passive social media options (Socialize It!, Facebook Like buttons; Twitter Follow, Pinterest Follow, and Google +1 buttons) to your pages.
But those are all one-time, set-it-and-forget-it tasks. Why wait until after you add Content 2.0 invitations, or attract high-quality inbound links?
So we moved passive social to Step 2. Basically, as soon as you've built enough pages that you're ready to move to traffic generation, it's the right time to add passive social to your pages.
If you're working through DAY 7 right now, jump back to Step 2 and learn about passive social. Then add those buttons!
As with DAY 7, there are some set-it-and-forget-it Steps that are essential for developing and deepening relationships with your site's visitors. So we moved them up to earlier in DAY 8.
Step 2 is the same. RSS/Blog It! is so important that it remains where it is.
Step 3 is now about adding a contact form to your site via Form Build It!.
And Step 4 is now about collecting email addresses for your newsletter, and then sending out your first issue.
Of course, you don't have to send out that first issue immediately. But starting and growing your subscriber list is essential, so it should be done sooner rather than later. Even if you don't think that you'll ever send out a regular mailing, come up with a good name for a newsletter and start collecting addresses now. That way, if you change your mind, you'll already have an audience waiting to hear from you.
Do you prefer to read through each DAY of the AG then go back and do the tasks. Well, now we've added the tasks to the top icon in the menu bar (over on the right side) that moves down the page with you.
Each task will take you to that particular Step, or, if the task is to read a TNT or MHQ article, or download a file, the link will take you to the article or to the file.
Kudos and thanks to Al the Graphic Guy for the design update. The Action Guide is much better for it.
Of course, we want to hear from you. Help Elf has been over it until his eyes almost fell out, but there may be some issues that he missed. If you spot any, let him know.
Enjoy! (Especially the bigger text size.)
