More Anti-Spam Enhancements
A few weeks ago, we added Google's reCaptcha to Connected Services, so that you could add reCaptcha to your FBI! forms. (The system added it automatically to any form that already had the graphic challenge activated.)
A week later, we added reCaptcha to Content 2.0 invitations and comment forms.
We discovered by looking through a lot of stats (and receiving a few reports from SBIers) that a surprising amount of spam was still making it through to inboxes, even with reCaptcha activated.
So we went hunting for a solution, and we bagged what the Dev team thinks will take a big bite out of spam numbers.
The team went out and found all the anti-spam measures and combined many of them. Each of these (e.g., Akismet) is known to cut down on spam quite a bit. Put them together and you do indeed have a fortress surrounding you (okay, around your forms).
And here's the best news of all...
There's literally nothing for you to do. Even if you don't have the graphic challenge activated in FBI!, even if you're not using reCaptcha, all these combined anti-spam services are working behind the scenes to keep your inbox clean. (We do, though, recommend activating reCaptcha to cut it down even more.)
We've tested our system thoroughly, ensuring that it's filtering out spam and not filtering out the stuff you might want (false positives). And the Dev team will continue to keep an eye on it. If you do think that you should have received a contact form email or a C2 submission, and you didn't, please contact Support and advise them of when the form was sent, the name and email address of the sender, and, if possible, the content of the message.
The team will then investigate.
Quick Preview It! Change
Most browsers now don't support, or will stop supporting, Java. Unfortunately, Java is what's needed to run Quick Preview It!.
So the Dev team (they've been busy!) developed an application (both Windows and Mac OS versions) that you can download and install on your computer. Whenever you want to preview the images and the content in SBI! Includes before uploading a page, simply launch the new QuickPreviewIt app, click a couple of buttons, and you'll see what your page will look like live.
You can download either of the apps (Windows or Mac) from the revised help file...
Please let us know what you think, right here in this thread.
And if you think something isn't working the way you expect it to work, please contact Support. They'll investigate and send it on to the Dev team.
Until next time!
