Hi all,

I am currently in conversation with Yoast Support over what appears to be a conflict between Yoast SEO and SBI for WP.

It shows as a javascript conflict that prevents the Yoast plugin from displaying Cornerstone content. I have followed their instructions to identify the conflict and it was upon re-activating SBI for WP that the Cornerstone list disappeared.

This as more a heads-up than anything else. I'll let you know the response from Yoast.

Thanks,
Stephen

Hi Stephen.

Yoast added Cornerstone content since we created our plugin. So I've asked the developer who created the plugin to investigate.

Hi Stephen,

I wrote most of the SBI for WP plugin. As I'm not familiar with Yoast Cornerstone and steps to replicate, would you mind providing a screenshot of where it's at so I can look into the issue?

Thanks,
Vinny

Hi Stephen.

Yes, we're going to need screenshots. Both Vinny and I see everything working fine, if what you mean by Cornerstone content is the checkbox option to make a page a Cornerstone page.

So please send to Support screenshots with Yoast installed, before installing the SBI! of WP plugin, and then again after installing it.

Thanks.

No, that's not what I mean.

Select a post, make it Cornerstone content (the checkbox you are referring to, then go the general list of posts and select "Cornerstone articles" as the list selection. With SBIforWP installed and activated the list is empty, with it deactivated, it populates. In both cases, it shows the number of cornerstone posts.

It's a bug in Yoast's DB SQL, where they specify a column name without the table name. When WordPress builds the query to fetch all information, it complains that the ID column is ambiguous. I'll open a ticket with Yoast.

Thanks for bringing this up!

Here's the link to the Yoast ticket explaining exactly what is going on in case you'd like to keep tabs on it:

https://github.com/Yoast/wordpress-seo/issues/7138

As a temporary fix, you can edit line 58 (in Yoast version 4.7.1) of wp-content/plugins/wordpress-seo/admin/class-cornerstone-filter.php so that instead of this:

Code: Select all' AND ID IN( SELECT post_id FROM ' . $wpdb->postmeta . ' WHERE meta_key = "%s" AND meta_value = "1" ) ',

it is this:

Code: Select all' AND ' . $wpdb->posts . '.ID IN( SELECT post_id FROM ' . $wpdb->postmeta . ' WHERE meta_key = "%s" AND meta_value = "1" ) ',

Remember to back up the original file, and use a plain text editor (as opposed to Word or equivalent) to make the changes.

Cheers,
Vinny

Hi Vinny,

That's great news! I'm glad you were able to find the problem.

Thanks for the prompt action.

Cheers,
Stephen

PS. My temporary fix is more basic but works just as well; I deactivate SBIforWP when I need to find my Cornerstone articles then reactivate it when I'm done.
