So nice to hear from you.
I am confused. You said you needed more information, but then it seemed you were telling me how to set up an account. Having already tried to set up the accounts, I will assume you were asking me what I did and not telling me what to do.
Not wanting to publish my personal stuff, I'll try to give you enough information so you'll know what I've done.
Doing this for [Domain Private]
(WH) (same steps taken for the other three sites).
Select the email address you're trying to set up. Make sure that Enable this account has a check beside it.
I used the email address SBI! sends at the beginning. It ends in [Domain Private]
. For reasons I can't remember the field says" Editor <SBI email address here>." I can't figure out how to get the Editor out of there in case that's a problem. I didn't recall putting it there, so it may have been the lab guy or maybe something the Apple support person told me to do while I was in a stupor. In any case, it is marked enabled.
Can't see any place to list an alias, not even when I click the other options (Mailbox Behaviors and Server Settings).
I do have lots of other fields that I populated using first the old Eudora information I had been using, and then with what the Apple support supervisor told me to use. Didn't seem to matter which I used. Nothing actually works.
Click on the Outgoing Server menu and clic on the Edit option. In the next window, click on the SMTP server for the email address. For the SMTP server, click on Advanced.
No clicking needed, but I do see the outgoing stuff. No edit option, but as I said, it's been changed a lot back and forth with no success. The SMTP email address is the one from SBI! mail. No advanced button to click on there.
List the Port number, Authentication method and what you have in the User Name field.
The port number and authentication are taken care of automatically, and they match what I used to have, so I'm assuming they are correct. In the sending section, the user name is the SBI! MAIL address. (I think that user name has been changed back and forth a few times, too. So far, nothing is working.)
The Apple support supervisor says I have to have separate email accounts for each WH identity. I didn't need that with Eudora. Coast Cable just collected it all, and sent it on to me and then sent it back to wherever I wanted it to go with whichever email address I chose to use. I don't know if the problem is Apple mail or Coast Cable. Well, it could be SBI, but we definitely aren't going to be changing that, so it's down to the other two. I'm starting to think I'm just up a pipe here.
