I'm developing a new travel site. Want to create T2 page, but can't decide which numbers to go with. Since travel sites compete these days with "big players", do you think I should stick with the lower demand/supply numbers (maybe more winnable?) or higher ones? The profitability is higher on the lower demand.
Feeling unsure. Thoughts?

Here are the numbers:

D 436 S 38 P 11474

D 861 S 194 P4438

Going with those numbers would make it much easier to win the keyword than if the profitability potential were much lower. Start with them, add a couple other keywords (with the lower profitability) to the page content only (make sure they make sense and flow naturally, don't force a use of any keyword).

Thanks for responding Debs. Not sure I'm understanding what you're saying. Which set of numbers are you saying I should use?

I would use the second one, personally. My goal is to use cherry picked (ie: low supply, huge or large demand) to get early traffic, and those lead naturally up to your T2's.

I would use them both, the smaller supply one as the primary, and the other as the secondary. If the page is long enough I would throw in another synonym or several.

Hi Susan,

Beautiful site!

I agree with Debs that this one will be easier to win:

D 436 S 38 P 11474

As theoretically there are only 38 ahead of you. Having the other keyword interspersed could gain the page some related trafic, yet without knowing the actual words it is hard to say definitively.

Terri gives some great examples of this dilemma in her webinar. Here is a recording:

Terri David Webinar - Keywords, Topics, Blueprint

I hope that this helps.

Thank you both, Debs & Mary!
I was thinking same thing as far as using both (& maybe a couple others) throughout the page, but was really stuck as to which one to use as the actual page. You've answered this perfectly. I will use the lower, hopefully more winnable, as my page & inject others for that extra boost.

Thanks again (& for the kind words Mary....I'm very excited about this site, & really hope to make it hugely successful in spite of all the big-time travel sites hovering above).

Hi Susan,

You are so welcome! And I heartily hope your site meets your expectations.

Here's a tool I use to see if I've overused a phrase:

Of course, you have to have the page built first, yet better late than never. :-)

I guess it is my biggest help when I am improving old pages.

Have a great weekend!
