I want to remove the words 'Continue Reading' from the blog page links and the quotation marks from around the titles that are also in every link from the blog page to the full site pages.

Actually, I would really like it if just the title of the blog post linked straight to the page instead of having the duplicate text of the title, with the start of 'Continue Reading', and the quotes.

If not possible to link the blog post title, I just want to remove the annoying 'Continue Reading' text that is automatically added to every link on the page for no apparent reason.

I asked this same question a couple of years ago and didn't get an answer.

I hope someone has an answer to this now

Hi Caroline,

A short script added to the bottom of your blog page can edit the links:

Code: Select all<script type="text/javascript">
// remove Continue reading from bloglet links
var blinks = document.getElementsByClassName("entry_link");
for (var i=0; i < blinks.length; i++) blinks[i].innerHTML = blinks[i].innerHTML.slice(18, -1);
</script>

Insert a Raw HTML block below your footer and paste the above into it.

Kind regards,
J.

Thank you Juri. I have tried that and it works but the only problem is that the words do appear as the page is loading and then as they disappear the text jumps to the left. Any way to stop that? I upload my own html and tried it on this site

Hi Jackie, thank you for your input aswell... what do you mean?

Best regards, Caroline

Hi Caroline,

You can make the links invisible at first by adding this to the end of the <head> tag in your page HTML:

Code: Select all<style type="text/css">
a.entry_link {
visibility: hidden;
}
</style>

The script needs then to expand to make them visible again after they've been changed:

Code: Select all<script type="text/javascript">
// remove Continue reading from bloglet links
var blinks = document.getElementsByClassName("entry_link");
for (var i=0; i < blinks.length; i++) { blinks[i].innerHTML = blinks[i].innerHTML.slice(18, -1); blinks[i].style.visibility = "visible"; }
</script>

This will render the links invisible for visitors with JavaScript turned off, though. With the previous version, these visitors will still see the original Continue Reading... rendering.

Jacki meant, you could change the wording of the links in a What's New box. However, this doesn't apply to the blog page itself, IMO.

Kind regards,
J.
